Welcome to Three Spires Singers
Recognised as one of the best choirs in the southwest, THREE SPIRES SINGERS is a 90-strong auditioned choir giving around four concerts a year, usually in Truro Cathedral or Hall for Cornwall.
The choir was founded in 1981 and two years ago celebrated its 25th anniversary with a memorable performance of the first work the Singers ever performed, Brahms’ German Requiem.
Under the baton of Robert Sharpe, Organist and Master of the Choristers at Truro Cathedral and Musical Director of Three Spires Singers since 2002, the choir has sung music spanning almost four hundred years, from Monteverdi’s 1610 Vespers to Paul Spicer’s Easter Oratorio, written in 1999. The Singers have performed virtually all the major choral repertoire as well as many lesser known works, and have commissioned new works by David Briggs and Paul Comeau.
The choir has performed with a number of national orchestras and ensembles as well as its own Three Spires Orchestra, and several performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Truro Cathedral was full on a rain sodden evening for the Three Spires Singers’ concert in conjunction with the Cathedral Choir. The truth is that the choir’s reputation … is such that audiences are assured of genuine musical distinction whatever the works to be performed. |

If proof were needed of the high regard in which the Three Spires Singers and Orchestra are held, it was there in abundance at the Hall for Cornwall. The auditorium was packed for a programme consisting entirely of 20th-century music… |

I envy those hearing [Monteverdi Vespers] for the first time in such a magical performance; all credit to Robert Sharpe for his thorough preparation and inspired direction… and to the choir for their total commitment to such taxing music… A hard act to follow and a memory to treasure. |

We are most grateful to our commercial sponsors, without whose generous support our concerts would not be possible.
